The Quarantine Project

In December 2019, as a Christmas Gift, I dipped into my camera fund and treated myself to my first few sets of Miniature People. I dusted off my lighting kit which I barely used and turned an empty room into a studio, this was perfect for this type of photography. I was instantly hooked and found a new photography passion. In March 2020, when COVID-19 forced everyone to quarantine at home, photographing mini people became for me an opportunity to escape from what was going on in the world. In mid-March, Focus Camera Club put out a 14-day challenge. Every day, members had to post a photo taken inside their houses on a theme that they provided for us on that day. From there was born the idea of my Quarantine Project. I decided that while COVID-19 was still creating havoc in our lives, I would create and post a photo a day using my miniatures. For me, my Miniature People are a way to get back to my childhood, they push me to be creative. I enjoy the challenge of re-inventing an object and integrating it in my photos. I hear a lot of positive comments from friends who enjoy my daily posts. These comments are what keeps me going. Thank you for all the kind words. I also want to say a big thank to my spouse Lisa for all her support, she has turned into my assistant and these would not be possible without her help. En décembre 2019, en guise de cadeau de Noël, j'ai pigé dans mes économies-caméra pour m’offrir mes premières séries de personnages miniatures. J'ai dépoussiéré mon kit d'éclairage et transformé une pièce vide en studio, une installation parfaite pour ce type de photographie. L’engouement fut instantané, c’était le début d’une nouvelle passion de photographie. En mars 2020, lorsque le COVID-19 a entrainé une quarantaine obligatoire à la maison pour tous, photographier mes miniatures est devenu ma manière d’oublier ce qui se passait dans le monde. À la mi-mars, le club Focus Camera a lancé un défi de 14 jours. Les membres devaient publier quotidiennement une photo prise à l'intérieur de leurs maisons sur un thème fourni la journée même. De là est née l'idée du (Quarantine Project). Tant que le COVID-19 continuerait à bouleverser nos vies, je créerais et publierais une photo par jour de mes miniatures. Pour moi, ces personnages miniatures me ramènent à mon enfance, ils me poussent à être créatif. J'aime le défi de réinventer un objet et de l'intégrer dans mes photos. J'ai reçu beaucoup de commentaires positifs d'amis qui apprécient mes publications quotidiennes. Ce sont ces commentaires qui me font avancer. Merci pour tous ces encouragements. Je veux aussi dire un grand merci à mon épouse Lisa pour tout son soutien, elle est devenue mon assistante et cela ne serait pas possible sans son aide.
